- Please report to reception on arrival for your appointment.
FEELING UNWELL THIS WINTER? KNOW WHERE TO GO.
Many common winter illnesses can be managed at home, with advice from your local pharmacist when needed.
Coughs, colds and sore throats:
Rest, drink plenty of fluids and allow time to recover.
Ask a pharmacist for advice about suitable remedies.
Antibiotics do not treat viral infections such as most colds.
Minor illnesses and medicines:
Your community pharmacist can advise on many common conditions and suitable over-the counter treatments.
Ask your pharmacist before taking a new medicine if you have long-term conditions or take regular medication.Help protect yourself:
Follow current NHS advice about recommended vaccinations.
Wash your hands regularly and cover coughs and sneezes.
Keep regular medicines stocked and request repeat prescriptions in good time.
Choose the right service:
Self-care: for mild symptoms that can safely be managed at home.
Community pharmacy / Pharmacy First: for advice about minor illnesses and eligible conditions.
GP practice: for concerns that need a GP or practice clinician.
NHS 111: if you need urgent medical advice but it is not a life-threatening emergency.
999 / A&E: for life-threatening emergencies.
Please do not attend the surgery solely for advice about a minor illness if a pharmacist can help you.
For reliable advice, visit NHS.uk or speak to your community pharmacist
